USMLE® Step 1 Feature Update: Categories Added to Systems

UWorld Product Update

New Feature

We’ve enhanced your Step 1 QBank experience! In the “Create Test” section, you can now view “Categories” within each “System,” allowing you to create more specific, category-based practice tests. You can also review your performance for each category in the “Performance” tab, giving you a more detailed analysis of your prior practice sessions.

New Feature USMLE Product

Getting Started: Using the New Feature

You can now see “Categories” listed under each “System” within the following areas of the Step 1 QBank:

  • Create Test
  • Performance
  • Previous Tests

New Categories under Systems

When you create a practice test, you can now expand each “System” to show its available “Categories”–each containing questions related to a system subtopic.  Selecting an individual category allows for more focused study, whereas selecting all categories allows for broader study.

All Categories

How this feature can help you in your studies:

Intuitive Access- Enhanced organization of our “Systems” into “Categories” makes it easier for you to access questions for subtopics (eg, cardiac arrhythmias, coronary heart disease) within each system (eg, cardiovascular system).  This helps you better match the questions in your practice test to what you’re learning in class or to what you’re reviewing during your dedicated Step 1 study period.

Improved Performance Analysis– In addition to seeing your performance for each “Subject” and “System,” you can now see your performance for each “Category.” This more detailed analysis allows for more effective evaluation of your areas of strength and weakness.
